Reap

"Reap, Kazeshini."

Possibly the most bad@$$ zanpakuto in the entire Gotei 13. The name Kazehini literally means "death wind" or "wind of death." His wielder, Shuhei Hisagi, despises the shape of his sword's shikai (a kind of "awoken form") because it looks like something used to take lives rather than protect them. In the zanpakuto arc in the anime, Kazeshini had possibly the most interesting form, visually. He looks like a lithe shadow of the grim reaper himself. (Oh,the irony since all of the shinigami are technically grim reapers!)

This is probably the first of my additive paintings I've put on this account, and it is the best one I've done thusfar which made it difficult for me to decide whether or not I should post it here or to my professional account. In the end, I decided I wanted a critique and I don't have premium on the other account, so I begrudgingly posted to this one. (You're welcome, watchers.) In case you don't know what an additive painting is (or at least what I think it is), I basically start with a dark canvas and splash lighter paint onto it. There was virtually no erasing. Everything you see is what I put on that layer from the point of being happy with the general form. Ultimately, the primary red turned out to be a great choice to use instead of the darker maroon seen in the anime. It gave him this look of being simultaneously a shadow and a flame, and really made the form pop out.

All in all, I had better get some feedback on this thing because Kazeshini was perfect for this technique, and I didn't put it on the other account along with this one for reasons, so throw me a bone.
